In class we carried out an insulation experiment on a doll's house. We borrowed a specially adapted doll's house from Bob Kibble at Moray House. It had holes drilled into its attic to allow a temperature sensor to be inserted.
First we put two candles into the doll's house and no insulation in its attic, lit the candles, shut the doors and switched the sensor on for 15 minutes.
Next we did the same thing but with insulation in the attic. We were quite suprised find out how much heat was trapped in the house when we had insulation in the attic.
Did you know that a quater of the heat from a house is lost from its roof?
